The Rising Freedom Gundam from the theatrical film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" has been released as an SD EX Standard kit alongside the HGCE version. The basic setup is the same as previous entries in the line — instead of color-separated parts, a large number of seals are used to achieve the intended color scheme. And as you'd expect from minimizing the part count, the hollow-out problem is just as bad as ever.
That said, even with just a small number of parts and some seals, you can still get a pretty decent-looking proportioned build. Wing deployment and transformation into MA form are both included as gimmicks, and while the articulation is a bit limiting, you can still pull off some surprisingly decent poses. On top of that, there's a bonus original gimmick where you can combine the backpack/wings with the shield and beam rifle — though it's quite heavy, making it a bit of a struggle for an HG kit to hold up with one arm.
All in all, it's a solid SD kit right in line with what you'd expect from the EX Standard lineup. The price is pretty reasonable too, so if you're a SEED fan, this seems like an easy one to just go ahead and grab. :-)
