Following Nu Gundam and Sazabi, it looks like they're pushing the Char's Counterattack lineup — and now the Jagd-Doga has been released. It's based on BB Senshi No. 9 Jagd-Doga (Gyunei version) with the Kues version head and weapons added, and the molded colors have been completely changed over to the Kues color scheme. The original Gyunei version head is included as well, but the molded colors don't match, so using it without painting would be a stretch.
Anyway, this kit's molded colors are just... incredibly food-toy-like; A pinkish red... a garish yellow... a washed-out gray... it honestly looks like one of those toys that comes bundled with gum or candy at the supermarket. T_T On top of that, compared to other SD kits, the seam lines on the feet and weapons are pretty bad. It'd take quite a bit of work to fix everything up. And the mold condition is pretty rough too — there's flash (what folks call "bari") all over the place. Probably because the molds are so old that they don't fit together properly anymore..
Interestingly, some parts like the shoulder verniers and chest pieces were thoughtfully given separate color parts... but the colors end up being so similar that you can't even tell. -_-
That said, there's something to be said for the fact that a relatively rare character like the Jagd-Doga got the SD treatment. And compared to more common kits, once you paint it up it really stands out and looks pretty charming. (Even if the seam line cleanup is a painful ordeal;) It's also nice that they put in the effort to include parts for both units. ^^;
Anyway, given those painfully food-toy-like molded colors, whatever else you might say about it — this is one kit that's hard to recommend to snap-fit fans.
