SD G Generation

Re-GZ Custom

Kit Review

Straight build

The 5th G-Generation Zero kit is also the Re-GZ from Char's Counterattack.
It's based on BB Senshi No. 11 Re-GZ with Re-GZ Custom parts added, so you can swap out the head, weapons, and B.W.S. to configure it as the Re-GZ Custom.

The Re-GZ can originally transform into flight mode using the B.W.S. (Back Weapon System), and you can do that here in SD form too.
But given how stubby it is with that oversized head, the flight mode looks… well, it brings to mind an egg with wings. As you can see in the photos, it looks less like a flight mode and more like it just fell flat — though it is pretty cute ^^

The standard Re-GZ gets an SD version of the same B.W.S. included with the MG, while the Re-GZ Custom comes with a brand-new B.W.S. The Custom's B.W.S. has noticeably finer detail than the standard version's.

The molded colors are similar to the earlier Jegan, or maybe just a touch deeper and more matte-looking — slightly better, I'd say. That said, whether it's mold wear or what, there are some noticeable mold seam steps — what you'd call "flash" (mold fins) — in various spots on the kit. A bit annoying, but a quick pass with a knife sorts it out easily enough.

Among the early classic SDs, this one is generally considered to have pretty good detail, and since it's the only SD version out there, it's worth picking up in its own right. Especially that adorably ridiculous flight mode… Aww~
