SD G Generation

Gundam Mk-IV

Kit Review

Straight build

The Gundam Mk-IV, which is hard to find in a normal-scale injection kit, has been released as part of the G Generation SD series. It may not be the most well-known suit, but it's got a pretty stylish design — and since SD kits have lower production costs, it makes sense that it got an easy release here.

The overall kit quality is on par with your standard SD, though the proportions and sense of volume feel a bit more solid and well-balanced compared to other Gundam-type SDs. There are some hollow areas on the arms, weapons, and underside of the feet, but they're handled in a way that keeps them mostly out of sight.

Along with the standard weapons — beam rifle, beam saber, and shield — the incom that attaches to the backpack is also included. A coated wire is provided so you can even recreate a pose with the incom launched into the air.

Quality-wise it's a solid, no-frills kit with nothing particularly special about it, but the biggest selling point is simply being able to build a suit that's hard to find in any other scale. It's a pretty cool design that honestly deserves at least an HGUC release someday. :-)
