The Wing Gundam series has kicked off in the G Generation Zero SD lineup, and naturally the first one out of the gate is the TV version Wing Gundam — the main hero unit. Overall quality is your standard SD level, and the overall sculpt is pretty decent too.

The weapons are a straightforward setup of rifle, beam saber, and shield — nothing to complain about — but the shield is so big that it's a bit awkward to keep it secured on the arm. In terms of color separation, the center chest section and the ducts are split into separate parts, so it's done pretty well, and once you add the seals on top of that, the colors come out reasonably close to the official design.

The biggest highlight of this kit is that it uses a variety of gimmicks to support transformation into Bird Mode — and even with just a simple transformation, you get a surprisingly solid and convincing Bird Mode out of it.

All in all, it's a solid, no-frills SD kit — if you're a Wing Gundam fan, this one's definitely worth building for fun. :-)
