SD G Generation

Gundam Double X

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the SD Gundam X, Gundam Double X has also been released as part of the G-Generation Zero series. The overall quality has a slightly old-school SD feel, and the hollows on the weapons and arms are particularly bad — anyone planning to paint this one will probably need a fair amount of putty.

On top of that, the color separation is pretty simple overall, basically just two colors — deep blue and white — and even with the seals applied it doesn't really pop all that much. The shield on the left arm also keeps sliding down due to a weak grip, so there are quite a few disappointing points with this kit. On the plus side, I do like that the Double X's signature reflector deployment and Twin Satellite Cannons are reproduced as working gimmicks. ^^

All in all, this kit has a few more shortcomings compared to other SD kits, but since it's ultimately a chibi big-head character kit, those flaws might not be such a big deal depending on how you look at it. Think of it as a little treat for Double X fans. :-)
