SD G Generation

Gundam Leopard

Kit Review

Straight build

Gundam Leopard from Gundam X gets the SD treatment. It's a mobile suit that kind of reminds you of Wing Gundam's Heavyarms, with gatling weapons packed all over its body.

The color separation is pretty simple, so the straight build alone doesn't look all that great — you'll need to slap on quite a few seals here and there to make it look decent. That's partly just how the original color scheme is, but this is definitely one of those SDs where the snap-fit alone doesn't really do it justice. On the bright side though, at least it doesn't have the hollow, skeleton-like look that the previous SD Gundam Double X had.

The biggest selling point of the SD Leopard is all the open/swap gimmicks included to recreate the full burst firing scene. You can open up the covers on the chest and right shoulder to expose the weapons, and the inner arm gatling on the back can be detached and reassembled onto the left arm. Thanks to all that, you could say this one is more feature-packed than your average SD. ^^

Since this is an SD kit from the Gundam X series — which isn't exactly the most popular — it's hard to find in stores, and there are probably plenty of people who didn't even know this SD existed. It's really a kit for Gundam X fans, but if you're after a cute little SD that can even recreate the full burst firing scene, it's definitely worth giving it a shot. :-)
