Hyaku-Shiki

Kit Review

Straight build

Here's the SD Hyaku-Shiki, one of the more popular suits in the Gundam universe. It doesn't have the gold coating like the MG or HGUC versions, but the yellow molded color came out quite nicely, so the overall color feel is pretty decent. ^^

The overall parts layout has a distinctly old-school SD vibe, and the sink marks on the back of the arms are noticeably worse than on other kits — which is a bit of a shame. If you're planning to paint it, you'll probably need to fill in quite a bit of putty. There are some sink marks on the beam rifle too, though not bad enough to look really awkward, and there's also a gimmick that lets you mount the bazooka on the backpack.

The overall feel of the kit is just "Oh, the Hyaku-Shiki got an SD release" — nothing particularly special, just a solid, straightforward release. It does leave a bit of a bland aftertaste, but the proportions are decent enough that it's worth picking up if you're a Zeta Gundam fan. That said, it's the kind of kit that makes you wish it would get a proper version-up to BB Senshi standards. :-)
