SD G Generation

Byg-Zam

Kit Review

Straight build

The Byg-Zam — the MA from First Gundam — has been given the SD Gundam treatment. It's a unique mobile armor with a massive body and just a pair of legs hanging off it, and being such a huge MA, it's come out noticeably bigger and chunkier compared to other old-style SD kits.

Some of the detail work has that rough, old-kit feel to it, but overall the proportions do feel appropriately SD. That said, since it's not a humanoid MS like most kits, it's hard to get that cute big-head, stubby-body SD charm — you mostly get the SD vibe from its round, pudgy body instead.

On top of that, the molded color is just a single dark green, so you'll need to apply seals all over the place, and the color itself is a bit dull, which makes the straight build feel a little less satisfying. Still, the fact that the Byg-Zam got the SD treatment at all is what makes this kit worthwhile — it's a quirky SD kit that any old-school fan should give a shot :-)
