SD G Generation

Elmeth

Kit Review

Straight build

Alongside the Big Zam, the Elmeth — one of the mobile armors from First Gundam — has also been released in SD form. Unlike other MAs, it doesn't really have a robot-like shape at all; it's just a flying craft.. and it seems like they weren't quite sure how to express that in SD form, so it ended up coming out short and chubby. ^^;

The rounded, egg-like look does give it that SD feel, but the molded color is a single flat tone and you're stuck applying what feel like candy toy-style seals, so it ends up looking a bit lacking in quality. The overall molding and detail is also on the soft and chunky side.

As for special extras, one small bit is included.. and beyond that, it's fun that they let you pull out the locking pin on the tail section to recreate that scene from the show where the SD Gelgoog hangs on for a ride ^^

This kit's significance lies in the fact that the First Gundam's Elmeth has been given the SD treatment — and while it definitely has a strong old-school vibe to it, it does seem to be a fairly rare SD item in its own right.. :-)
