SD G Generation

Crossbone Gundam X1

Kit Review

Straight build

Crossbone Gundam X1, one of the variation lineup kits from F91, has been released as an SD in G Generation Zero. The original color scheme was a bit complex, but a hefty amount of seal work does bring it together to a decent degree. On the flip side, looking at just the straight build, the colors look pretty off — and even if you wanted to paint it, this is the kind of kit that'd take quite a bit of work. On top of that, the hollow-backs on the rear of the arms are pretty bad, so filling them with putty is going to be a bit of a pain..;

On the plus side, the X-shaped cross binders on the back each move independently, which is a nice touch — so even with limited limb articulation, you can still pull off some fairly dynamic poses. Weapons-wise, you get a Zanbuster and a Beam Zanber, though both have a bit of hollow-back issues. The weapons themselves look fine, but they do feel noticeably smaller compared to other SD kits.

Anyway, this one falls into the category of SD kits that require a pretty hefty amount of seal work, but the design is solid enough that it still looks good even at this small size. If you're a fan of the Crossbone Gundam series, this is an SD kit you'll definitely have fun building. :-)
