Kit Review

After a two-year gap, the Astray Green Frame has arrived as part of the SEED-series 1/100 lineup. The reason is pretty obvious — with the PG Astray release, the Astray series kits that probably should've come out ages ago are finally seeing the light of day, better late than never.
The Astray itself is from the original SEED era, before Destiny, but the product number follows the Destiny 1/100 series numbering. Since it's a side story anyway, it doesn't really matter where they slot it in — but you can't help getting the strong feeling that it was put out as a filler release. ^^;
As you probably know, the Astray is a series with a ton of variations — Red, Blue, Green, Gold, plus all sorts of additional armaments and design changes. After the Red Frame and Blue Frame Second L, Amatsu came out, and now the Green Frame has finally made its appearance too. To be precise, though, this Green Frame is Trojan's Green Frame from the Frame Astrays line, which came out a bit later in the side story continuity — so it's a little different from the original Green Frame in the early lore. But hey, it's all just lore-juggling anyway, so...
Since the old 1/100 Red Frame was so well-received, the Green Frame likewise stands out with excellent articulation and decent color separation for a No Grade 1/100. As Trojan's personal unit, it also comes with a unique weapon called the Twin Sword Rifle — and adding that weapon bumped the price up by a whopping ¥500. That feels a bit steep for what amounts to a single small runner... though since this kit comes five years after the Astray Red Frame, I'd guess some of that is just inflation catching up.
Anyway, it's definitely a very late-to-the-party variation kit, but there's still something meaningful about finally getting a proper 1/100 Green Frame. For Astray fans, it's a chance to get a pretty solid kit at a reasonable price. ^^
