Gundam Astray Mirage Frame

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Seals

Timed alongside the MG Astray release, new units are being added to the 1/100 Astray lineup as well — and this kit is the Mirage Frame, an Astray with a purple frame.

As you can see, it's not just the frame color that changed — the head design is different too, and mounted blades called the A Sword and B Sword have been added to the arms and legs. The revised head is designed so that the back of the head becomes a face as well, and by rotating the head and spreading out the A/B Swords on the limbs, it transforms into Gladiator Mode. Gladiator Mode is a pretty bizarre-looking form — the best way to describe it is a diver wearing flippers.

Since the base 1/100 Astray kit was already excellent quality, this kit likewise delivers great articulation and decent joint strength — it's a solid, well-made kit. On top of that, it's a variation that adds a unique color scheme and some unusual weapons, so if the style appeals to you, it seems like a perfectly enjoyable build. :-)
