This kit was released as a Wonder Festival 2006 venue-exclusive limited edition — 1/100 Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L Extra Finish version— that's the one. (Phew.. what a mouthful)
The white exterior armor overall has a subtle semi-gloss Extra Finish-style coating, and the quality is excellent. The blue frame parts, on the other hand, aren't Extra Finish coated — they're done in a regular gloss coating. So you end up with this interesting contrast where the inner frame skeleton has that shiny glossy look while the armor is semi-gloss, which gives it a really unique feel.
One of the great things about plated versions is how the extra coating layer tightens up the joints — and this kit definitely benefits from that. The Second L is notoriously back-heavy, which puts a lot of stress on the joints, but on this kit the joints are quite stiff, so getting it to hold a standing pose is no problem at all. The arms are actually almost too stiff to pose easily, but compared to how worrying the standard version's joints were, I'd say stiff is definitely the better problem to have.
All in all, this is a great limited edition with plenty of quality and character as a plated version. :-)
