HG GAT-X207

Blitz Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

As one of the original five SEED Gundams, the Blitz Gundam was a latecomer in the 1/100 scale — pushed back behind Freedom and Justice — but in HG it got to be the 5th kit released, so it was treated pretty well. ^^

Unlike the 1/100 Blitz with its black molded color, the HG Blitz was released in a deep blue color scheme, giving it a noticeably different look. You might automatically think "black" when you hear Blitz, but the deep blue HG version has its own cool vibe going on.

Even at HG grade, a good amount of color separation is pulled off — including the red chest ducts — and with a little help from the stickers, the overall color combination doesn't fall too far behind the 1/100. That's definitely worth some credit. Articulation is a solid 90 degrees, nothing spectacular, but it's actually better than the Aegis, Buster, and Duel by comparison.

The Trikeros — Blitz's signature combined offense/defense shield — has the inner parts nicely reproduced, and the Gleipnir on the left arm handles the open/closed yellow claw via swappable parts. On top of that, a separate stand and wire are included to recreate the Gleipnir's launch mode, which is impressive attention to detail for such a small scale. ^^

In terms of color separation, articulation, and design accuracy, this is a solid, high-quality HG kit — and it's especially recommended for anyone interested in the Blitz Gundam's distinctive deep blue color scheme. :-)
