HG ZGMF-X09A

Justice Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

Hot on the heels of the HG Freedom Gundam, its partner kit (?) the Justice Gundam has also been released in HG form. The Justice's distinctive subtle sausage-pink molded color came out nicely, but the white and yellow colors used on the wings and shield are all handled with seals. Given how complex the color scheme is by design, that's probably unavoidable — but thankfully the seal quality is pretty good, so the awkwardness is kept to a minimum.

Overall articulation is nothing special, but compared to the 1/100, it's smaller and lighter, so despite the big backpack, the joint strength is more than enough to hold a standing pose. In particular,  it's easy to get it standing even with the FATUM-00 wings fully spread out — and that's where the advantages of a smaller HG kit really shine through. On top of that, other kits sometimes have issues with the beam saber grip not sitting securely in the side skirt storage, but the HG Justice holds it in place just fine, which is a relief.

In terms of how it looks with just a straight build and seals, this is easily one of the best among the HG SEED kits — the clean molded color, excellent color separation for the grade, and quality seals all stand out. Compared to the HG Freedom, where the black parts on the wings — one of the key visual points — were left completely bare without even a seal, the HG Justice really feels like they put in the extra effort.

All in all, this is one of the more polished kits in the HG lineup, and if you're a fan of Athrun or Justice Gundam, it should be more than satisfying as an HG kit :-)
