Gaia Gundam (Andrew Waltfeld Custom)

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the black normal version Gaia Gundam, the Andrew Waltfeld Custom Gaia Gundam has also been released in HG. It's a uniquely designed unit capable of transforming into a four-legged beast-shaped MA mode. Even though it's the Andrew Waltfeld Custom, it's essentially just a color variation kit of the black normal version — there's no difference whatsoever apart from the molded color.

Since it's a straight-up color variant kit, there isn't a whole lot to look at beyond the color change itself — but the difference in color scheme is so dramatic that the kit actually feels quite different overall. The proportions aren't great thanks to the unusual transformation gimmick, though ironically it looks even better once you switch it over to MA mode. That said, just like the normal version, the color separation feels a bit lacking, so a straight build alone leaves you wanting more — and structurally, it's not the easiest kit to get posed at sharp angles either.

It's a simple color variant kit, but since it's the personal unit of a fairly popular character, it's definitely worth building at least once if you're a Waltfeld fan. :-)
