Murasame

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Murasame Waltfeld custom, the white mass production type Murasame has also been released as an HG. Since it's essentially just a color variant in the lore, the kit only differs in molded color — but as a bonus, it also comes with four air-to-air missiles thrown in.

If Andrew Waltfeld's unit had a rather toy-like color scheme, the mass production type comes in a straightforward, mechanical-looking color combo that actually makes sense — so just in terms of color alone, the mass production type feels a bit more appealing. Since it's essentially a color variant kit, all the features are the same as the previous Andrew Waltfeld unit, with a convincing transformation and solid proportions being its strong points.

The addition of four air-to-air missiles is a nice touch that really adds some character, and combined with the more familiar color scheme, it makes the mass production type Murasame feel just a step above Andrew's unit.

For anyone who likes clean color schemes, unique designs, and transforming units, this is a kit you can definitely have a lot of fun with. If you're not particularly an Andrew fan, I'd recommend going with the mass production type — it's just the better deal overall. :-)
