Ginn Type High-Maneuver

Kit Review

Straight build + panel lining + partial paint

True to its reputation as the "Zaku of SEED," the Mobile Ginn keeps spawning all kinds of variations.
This time it's the Mobile Ginn High-Maneuver, which takes the basic Mobile Ginn frame and adds various armor pieces, verniers, and weapons. Since the core articulation, joint characteristics, and structural features are identical to the existing HG Mobile Ginn, HG Mobile Ginn reviewplease refer to that.

The High-Maneuver Ginn's color scheme has shifted to a green palette, with the additional armor pieces done mainly in white. The overall molded colors are nice, but the many yellow verniers — which are really the defining feature of this variant — have zero color separation. There's simply no yellow molded color in the kit at all. So if you want to bring out that personality, you'll need to do partial paint on all the yellow sections, and along with that, the black areas around the yellow need to be handled properly with panel lining or enamel to really make it look sharp. Aside from the spot on the front of the backpack thrusters where you'd add dark gray, the rest of the color separation is well done.

Maybe it's because the overall color combination is fairly striking, but once you get those verniers painted, this kit really comes alive. The yellow verniers — there to handle attitude control and quick movement in space — really drive home that "high-maneuver" feel. Shoulders, skirts, feet, sides of the legs, and more — 12 verniers have been added in total, and the backpack thrusters have gotten noticeably bigger and chunkier too. As a result, the impact of action poses goes up 200%!

The rifle has also been upgraded to a heavier-armed configuration, and interestingly, the blade that hangs at the side can be plugged onto the end of the rifle and used as a bayonet. On the flip side, the leg missile pods that were on the Mobile Ginn are gone in the High-Maneuver version. (Not that you could even attach them anyway.)

Unlike the original Mobile Ginn's backpack thrusters that spread out to the sides, the High-Maneuver's backpack thrusters hang rearward like those on the Mobile CGUE. That's because the propulsion units inside the thrusters have gotten much larger — which means the center of gravity tends to shift a bit toward the back, so you do need to balance the legs carefully. That said, the joints are solid, so as long as you get the balance right it won't just keel over on you — no worries there. ^^

Overall, I'd say this is an exemplary MSV kit of very high quality. It keeps everything great about the original kit and adds a flashy makeover on top — style upgrade achieved! If you can get past the pressure of painting all those verniers, this is a really excellent kit.
