Kit Review

Straight build
This is the Red Frame Second L limited edition, released alongside the 1/100 Gold Frame. Basically, it's nothing more than taking the existing Blue Frame Second L and swapping the molded colors from blue to red — that's it. If anything, the one difference is that, like the Gold Frame, the 1/20 figures that came with the original kit have been left out. (And that's not exactly a plus..)
It's a limited edition, but quite a large quantity was released alongside the Gold Frame, so it doesn't really feel all that limited — it's a bit of an oddball side-release kind of kit. That's probably why the price isn't particularly high for a limited edition. Since it is a limited release, I went ahead and reviewed it in straight build state, so bear with me.. (Does that count as a valid excuse..? ^^;)
The kit itself is well-known for its great proportions, so there's not much to explain there — but the shaky joint strength and locking mechanism issues from the original kit are still very much present. (Not like there was any reason they'd be fixed..) The big backpack means it can't even stand on its own properly, but once you get a pose going, it's definitely a cool and fun kit.
Personally, I keep thinking they should've released the normal Astray as the Blue Frame instead of doing something like this as a limited edition — it's a bit puzzling. ^^; Anyway, as a limited edition there's not a whole lot to get excited about, but it's not really bad either. :-)
