Aile Strike Gundam Remaster Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the HG Aile Strike Gundam Remaster Ver., released to commemorate the remastered broadcast of the Gundam SEED anime. The HG Remaster Ver. is essentially the existing HG kit with slightly tweaked molded colors, plus newly added seals for the remaster version and a joint part for the Action Base 2.

Comparing the molded colors to the original, the white has been changed to a brighter pure white, the joints and weapons to metallic colors, and the black on the Aile pack to a deeper, richer black. Honestly, unless you put the original right next to it, the changes aren't immediately obvious ^^; That said, the overall colors are richer and more saturated, giving it a sharper, almost HD-like feel.

The added seals look nice but there aren't many of them, so they don't make a huge visual impact. The stand joint part, on the other hand, is a pretty handy addition. It connects to the Action Base 2 by plugging into the waist pin between the upper and lower body, which makes it much easier to pull off dynamic aerial action poses.

One thing that changed with the Remaster Ver. is that switching to metallic-molded joints has made them slightly sturdier. This is a trait you typically see in limited edition kits that favor metallic molding, and either way, it does make posing noticeably easier.

In the end, there's nothing drastically different here — it's more like a subtle 10% upgrade. But compared to the original, the overall value is a bit higher, so it does feel like a worthwhile remaster in its own way. At the very least, if you're looking to pick up the HG Aile Strike and can't decide between the two, the Remaster Ver. is the obvious choice as the newer release. :-)
