Blitz Gundam Remaster Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

The fourth entry in the SEED HG Remaster lineup is the Blitz Gundam. Unlike the previous kits, which only made minor molded color tweaks compared to the original HG kits, the Blitz stands out with some really dramatic molded color changes.

The original murky dark-blue armor color has been changed to a black molded color, and the bright blue-ish joints have been completely swapped out for a bright purple tone. In terms of coloring alone, it's now the same black-and-purple combo as the MG Blitz — and honestly, it gives the kit a totally fresh feel~ On top of that, the black molded color just looks richer and more premium than the old blue did.

That said, compared to the previous Remaster kits where the joint parts were switched to metallic molding for better joint strength, the Blitz only gets a color change using standard plastic, so there's no real improvement in joint strength to speak of. Fortunately, the joints were decent enough to begin with, so it's not really a problem — but it does mean this kit takes a slightly different approach from the other HG Remasters.

Beyond that, it still comes with the standard Remaster version seals, and Joint Parts B for connecting to an Action Base 2 is also included so you can pull off all kinds of aerial action poses — same as the previous releases.

Either way, this is easily the most dramatic molded color upgrade among the SEED HG Remaster lineup, and it'll probably go down as one of the kits that benefited the most from Bandai's color variantping shenanigans in history. :-)
