Kit Review

Straight build

Among the SEED Remaster versions — which are mostly just repackaged existing kits — an unexpected new release has shown up. The HG LaGOWE, a four-legged beast-type mobile suit like the Mobile Baku, has been released as a SEED Remaster version. As you can see in the photos, the body and overall layout are similar, but it's a brand-new kit with most of the exterior changed, including the head, limbs, and wings.

It is a newly designed kit, but since it shares the same parts structure as the Mobile Baku, there aren't any major structural surprises. That said, for some reason the dumbbell-shaped ball joints connecting the torso and legs feel a bit loose. Compared to the Mobile Baku, the difference is pretty noticeable — the leg connections don't hold their position very well, which makes posing a bit of a hassle. It's not so bad that the legs are flopping around like octopus tentacles, so that's a relief, but it's still a bit of a letdown. Probably rushed into development without enough time to fix the molds? ;;

Compared to the Baku, not only has the design changed, but the overall color scheme has shifted to a brighter orange tone, giving it a much fresher look. The legs are thicker and chunkier overall, the feet have a new shape, and the wings are bigger and more imposing — in a lot of ways, it actually looks cooler than the Baku.

The leg joint connection is a little disappointing in terms of holding strength, but the LaGOWE has its own unique charm thanks to its flashier colors and design compared to the Baku. If you're into four-legged mecha, this is a genuinely new kit worth building for fun. :-)
