Providence Gundam Remaster Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

The HG Providence Gundam — affectionately nicknamed the "Bodhisattva Gundam" — has now been released in a Remaster Ver. The gray molded color has gotten a bit darker, while the deep navy blue on the body has shifted to a slightly brighter shade. The joints and weapons switching over to metallic colors is the same as previous releases, but one interesting change is that the yellow parts on the neck have been swapped out for a rather eye-catching mustard yellow.

It's fundamentally a solid kit — the proportions look good, the color separation is well done, and the joints are decent. That said, much like the previous Mobile Baku remaster, the differences from the original feel pretty minor. Sure, the addition of stand joint parts B and extra seals counts as a small upgrade, but since the original already had reasonably good joints, the improvement in joint strength isn't all that noticeable.

Bottom line — it's a good kit, but as a remaster the upgrades feel a bit underwhelming. If I had to put a number on it, it's maybe about 5% better than the original, so if you're choosing between the two, the Remaster Ver. is naturally the one I'd recommend. :-)
