HG GN-003

Gundam Kyrios : Trans-Am mode

Kit Review

The third entry in the HG Trans-Am series is, in order, Gundam Kyrios.
All the basic characteristics are the same as the other HG Trans-Am series kits — it's a kit that achieves the Trans-Am mode at the same price point through a change in molded color. For details on the base kit structure, please refer to the HG Gundam Kyrios review.

Since this kit is the only transformable unit among the Gundam four-ship team, joint strength is more of a concern here than with other kits. The standard HG Kyrios was a bit of a struggle to get standing steadily in MS mode — it locked in fine after transforming into flight mode, but in standing robot form it always felt a little... wobbly. Fortunately, coming to Trans-Am mode tightens up the tolerances and stiffens the joints, so it can hold a solid pose in both flight mode and MS mode.

Compared to the other Trans-Am Gundams, this kit has a lot more orange, which gives the whole thing a brighter, more vibrant feel overall. That makes it probably the most eye-catching of the Trans-Am kits when it comes to that glossy sheen. Anyway, setting aside the fact that it's essentially a straight repaint, the kit itself is more satisfying than the standard version in its own right. :-)
