Plutine Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Plutine Gundam from the Gundam Build Metaverse series. It's based on the HG Uraven Gundamfrom the Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise series, with a number of newly tooled parts added. New weapons and armaments have been added and the color scheme has been changed, giving it quite a different feel compared to the original Uraven.

For starters, the head and shield wing designs have been changed, and large Breakclaw Feathers have been added to both shoulders. The knee, sole, and side leg designs have also been revised, and the Infortune Sizer is included as a new weapon. The combination system based on Core Gundam II, the Core Flyer, and the Pluto Armor implementation all work the same way as the HG Uraven Gundam, delivering a decent combine/separate gimmick. The polycap fit is a little on the loose side though — not sloppy, but it doesn't give you that satisfying tight feel either.

Because of that, basic posing is easy enough, but some more demanding poses feel a bit unstable, and with so much stuff hanging off the kit it can take a while to get everything lined up just right. On top of that, you can detach the Breakclaw Feathers from the shoulders, unfold them, and pose them in a launch configuration — though you'll need to borrow a separate small stand to pull that off.

It was nice to revisit the Core Gundam combine/separate system from Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise after a while, though I do wish the joints had been a bit tighter. Either way, if you're into this kind of combining/transforming kit or you were a fan of the Build Divers Re:Rise lineup, this should be a pretty worthwhile new release. :-)
