Club G HG

Rick-Do Gyanko

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

This kit is the HG Rick-Do Gyanko, released as a Club G (Premium Bandai) online exclusive. It's based on the HG Hyper Gyankoreleased as a standard release, and as the name suggests, it has a design that looks like a hybrid of the Rick Dom and the Gyan.

On the main body, the shoulder armor, chest, arms, and headband design have all been changed. The overall color scheme has shifted to Rick Dom colors, and instead of the Gyan's shield, the backpack armament now features the Rick Dom's Giant Bazooka and Beam Bazooka. These bazookas reuse parts from the HGUC Rick Dom, with only the handle parts newly tooled to add a hole for mounting on the back. In the end, the changes to the main body itself are fairly minimal, but the new color scheme and armament give it quite a different silhouette overall.

Beyond that, the kit shares the same characteristics as the HG Hyper Gyanko, including the somewhat limited leg articulation. With the larger backpack armament added, joint strength feels a bit more precarious. The upper body is large and voluminous, but with such small feet, getting a stable standing pose is quite tricky. Using the stand helps somewhat, but overall this isn't the easiest kit to pose. That said, the chunky armament does allow for more dynamic poses compared to the Hyper Gyanko.

So while it does bring out a different personality from the base kit, it comes out as a kit that's structurally a bit less sturdy. On top of that, it still has the same face design as the Hyper Gyanko — which is very much a love-it-or-hate-it thing — so it's hard to recommend to everyone. Either way, it feels like a kit made as a treat for fans of Gundam Build Fighters Battlogue. :-)
