Side-F BB Senshi

MSN-04ff Sazabi

Kit Review

Straight build + seals

This kit is the RG MSN-04ff Sazabi released as a Fukuoka Side-F exclusive. Starting from the standard release BB Senshi Sazabireleased in 2013, this version adds the Double Horn Funnels, beam parts, and more. Aside from the newly sculpted top backpack part needed to attach the Double Horn Funnels, the main body uses the same sculpt as the standard RG Sazabi.

The newly sculpted Double Horn Funnels are pulled off pretty well, with solid detail and color separation. The rear deployment gimmick and backpack mounting gimmick are nicely executed at RG quality, and you can even combine them using separate joint parts. You can also freely position the two handles across six different holes. You might worry about grip strength given the size and weight, but since a locking pin also plugs into the forearm when holding it with the arm, it locks in nice and solid.

Beyond that, the BB Senshi Sazabi body itself is the same as before — articulation is limited as you'd expect from an SD kit, though it does pull off a decent SD proportion. One thing that's a bit of a letdown is that with the heavier backpack, getting it to stand upright on its own has become quite tricky. Even if you push the feet as far back as possible to shift the center of gravity, it just topples over backwards easily. T_T It's probably best to put it on a stand when displaying it.

All that said, it's great to see the MSN-04ff Sazabi make its way into the BB Senshi lineup following the RG release. Compared to the RG which is a bit pricey, this limited edition Sazabi seems like a nice, casual build. :-)
