First off, the main body and accessories are completely identical to the original Ginga — only the red molded color on the lower section has been deepened. The option to choose between 2 clear parts for the research facility dome on the bridge is still there, though the blue clear part has been changed from opaque to transparent. The newly sculpted main gun effect parts even feature a pearl finish, so they look pretty great — and just by slipping them onto the front of the gun barrel, you can pull off a pretty dramatic battle scene.

So really, the main things to check out in this review are the updated molded colors and the new main gun effect parts. As a spaceship design with a different flavor from the Yamato, there's something meaningful about seeing this once hard-to-find kit get a reissue, even if it's in the Ginga
