Yamato 1/1000

Arizona

Kit Review

Straight build + Stickers

The BB-101 Arizona-class space battleship Arizona from "Yamato Forever REBEL 3199" has been released as a 1/1000 scale plastic model. It's a brand-new warship that first appeared in Chapter 3 of the series, and its sleek design drew a lot of attention from Yamato fans. It's been beautifully commercialized with clean sculpting and solid quality.

First off, the color scheme and overall style feel closer to the Andromeda than the Yamato, though the size comes out feeling about the same as the Yamato. The build experience is classic Bandai 1/1000 space battleship style — it snaps together as smoothly as LEGO, which is just a joy to work with. The overall detail is also more refined and sharp-edged than the Andromeda.

This kit also supports 3 LED units, requiring 3 separately sold LEDs in different colors — blue for the front wave cannon, yellow for the rear engine nozzles, and green for the bridge. The LED effect is still just decent enough, so I don't think it's really worth spending extra money on. That said, with a price tag of ¥12,000, you'd think they could've at least thrown the LEDs in the box.

The standout feature unique to this kit is the Action Base-style stand. Being able to adjust the angle and length opens up more dynamic display possibilities. The stand can also be connected to either the center or the stern, and it rotates left and right, so you can position it from a wide variety of angles. The stand tension can be adjusted with a bolt, so there are no issues with durability or holding position.

As a bonus, the main gun effect parts from the 1/1000 Wave Experiment Ship Gingahave been reused here. There's also a set of unusual optional parts — 9 parabolic dish parts and a large number of clear stand runners. The manual only covers assembly for these parts, with no name, no explanation of how to use them, and no official finished model photos. They're items set to appear in Chapter 7, which releases in October 2026, so even Bandai is keeping quiet to avoid spoilers.

So while this brand-new warship from the latest Yamato series has come out looking great with clean, high-quality construction, the ¥12,000 price tag does leave a bit of a sour taste. Honestly, wouldn't it have been better to drop those mystery optional parts — which take up a whopping 6 runners — and bring the price down instead? And to put it in perspective, the 1/1000 Yamato and Ginga that came out just before this were only ¥5,500. It's hard not to feel a bit bitter about that kind of inflation.

That said, the quality itself is genuinely excellent and it's a really cool-looking space battleship. It's a kit I'd highly recommend to Yamato fans and anyone who loves space battleship model kits. :-)
