The Legend Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny has been released as an HGCE kit. Since the HG Legend Gundamcame out in 2005, this is an upgrade 21 years in the making — and given all that time, it's been completely transformed in terms of size, gimmicks, and articulation.
First off, like recent kits, it uses a polycap-less joint system. Unlike the HGCE SEED Freedom series, the joints aren't stiff — they're smooth yet stable. The waist, shoulders, and legs also have solid articulation, making it easy to pull off all kinds of poses. The backpack moves flexibly at various angles as well, adding a lot of dynamism to your poses.
For weapons, you get a high-energy beam rifle, a Defiant Kai beam Jabelin, and a shield. The 10 attack beam mobile cannons on the backpack and side skirts can be detached to recreate the Dragoon system. They all have standard 3mm holes, so they're compatible with all kinds of modern stands. On top of that, two of the GDU-X7 attack beam mobile cannons can have beam effect parts attached to them.
With its smooth assembly, great feel in hand, excellent articulation, and solid joint strength, this kit delivers near-perfect quality. It's honestly hard to understand why so many recent HG kits have come out with stiff joints when they can clearly tune them this well. Either way, as a Legend Gundam making a spectacular comeback after 21 years, this feels like a top-tier HG kit that I can wholeheartedly recommend to every Gunpla fan. :-)
