Kotobukiya Baangaan

Mach Superion & Weapon Set

Kit Review

Straight build

Kotobukiya has released the Mach Superion & Weapon Set as part of their Brave Series line. It's the mech from Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn — and as a weapon set, it comes with weapons designed to be used with the separately sold Great Bangan.

First off, true to form for a Kotobukiya Brave kit known for its high quality, the overall molded colors and color separation deliver an excellent straight build appearance. Assembly feels solid and the joint strength is sturdy, making this a well-built, stable kit all around. Two Mach Shots are included as weapons, and they lock firmly into the dedicated hands with no grip issues. The waist articulation is a little lacking, but the articulation is above average overall and lets you pull off a good variety of poses.

You can also swap the chest mane for a smaller version to extend the angle at which the shoulders bend forward — you can even pull off a cocky crossed-arms pose, though it doesn't look completely natural. On top of that, the weapon set includes the Phoenix Blade and Fire Arrow for Great Bangan, along with a chest replacement part. Swapping in the chest part lets you bend the arms further forward, adding more dynamism to your poses.

All in all, this is a clean, well-made Brave Series plastic model. The ¥12,500 price tag might be a bit of a barrier to entry, but for fans of the Bangan series it'd make a great addition — and if you already own Great Bangan, this is definitely worth picking up. :-)
