This kit is the Asra Ninja Kaname, released as part of the Megami Device lineup. The name alone makes it look like a variation of the Megami Device Asra Ninjareleased back in 2017, but aside from the stand, everything is actually brand-new tooling. The joint structure of the body is based on the Machinika Block2-M body from the Megami Device Buster Doll series.
The overall build is more streamlined compared to the Asra Ninja, and the silhouette difference between body mode and armed mode isn't that dramatic. With the latest girl-pla body design applied, articulation and durability feel noticeably improved over the Asra Ninja — especially joint strength, which is clearly more solid.
Since the build is on the simpler side, the weapons are limited to just the 4 daggers "Mumei" and the large shuriken "Fuma." You can detach the Fuma from the back and combine it with 3 of the Mumei for a different configuration. The real highlight of this kit, though, is the ability to collaborate with parts from the Asra Ninja and Asra Kyuheika. You can borrow parts from the Asra Ninja to build a custom body, then further combine weapons from the Asra Ninja/Kyuheika to get two collab configurations: Custom Armed Mode and Samurai Mode. That said, the process of taking things apart, gathering everything, and putting it all back together is a bit involved and honestly kind of tedious. Unless you're doing it for a review like I am, I do wonder how many people will actually bother going through with it.
All that said, the significance here is that we're getting an Asra Ninja built on the latest Machinika Block2-M body. It is an all-new mold kit, but the body structure and some of the overall look aren't drastically different from before, so it feels a little less fresh than you might expect. Still, the base quality is excellent as far as girl-pla goes, so if the style is your thing, this is definitely a kit worth recommending. :-)
