Shiranui Second Yuya Bridges Ki Ver.1.5

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the non-scale Shiranui Second Yuya Bridges Ki Ver.1.5 from the Muv-Luv series. Back in 2012, the non-scale Shiranui Second Yuya Bridges Ki DX versionwas released, and this is the upgrade of that kit to v1.5. The same upgrades applied to the non-scale Takemikazuchi v1.5 back in 2014 have been carried over here as well.

The change made to the main body is the waist joint, which has been upgraded to allow a bit more forward and backward movement. Beyond that, the assault cannon parts configuration has been upgraded so it can be set up as a support assault cannon, and the weapon rack has been changed to an articulated type. These changes are the same as with the Takemikazuchi v1.5 — in the Takemikazuchi's case the ankle and knee joints were also upgraded, but since the Shiranui already had those joints in their improved form, no changes were made there.

There are no other structural changes, so the decent articulation and the worrying (-_-) joint strength are both still the same as before. Also, with so many parts hanging off the kit, a lot of them tend to pop off during posing, so you're better off gluing things together — that hasn't changed either. It would've been nice if the joint strength had been reinforced with the v1.5 upgrade, so that's a bit of a letdown.

That said, it's still meaningful that the Shiranui Second Yuya Bridges Ki has finally gotten the v1.5 upgrade, even if it took a while. The changes are admittedly pretty minor, but since the 1.0 version is discontinued and hard to find anyway, at least now you can get the v1.5 in its place. Either way, while it may not be the most popular unit out there, if the unique style appeals to you, it seems like a kit worth giving a shot. :-)
