Tachi Yellow

Kit Review

Straight build

Kotobukiya has released the Tachi Yellow as part of their Ghost in the Shell SAC series. Structurally it's almost identical to the Tachikoma, with only a slight difference in the structure around the mouth area. Basically, you can think of it as a straightforward color variant kit.

That said, one wet decal unique to the Tachi Yellow has been added, and while Kusanagi and Batou from the Tachikoma's original three figures are included, the Miki figure has been dropped. Also, since they're trying to achieve the new color combination using the same runners as the Tachikoma, some parts come pre-painted black and separated from the runner.

Since the kit is 99% identical to the Tachikoma, you're really just here to enjoy the new color scheme. For details on the structural features, please refer to the Tachikoma review. Also, while the Tachikoma's blue molded color felt a little cheap, the Tachi Yellow comes out comparatively bright and vibrant, so I'd say the molded color looks a bit better here.

Just like the Tachikoma, the charm of this kit lies in its compact size, the relatively flexible leg articulation, and the clean reproduction of the cockpit hatch. Line it up with the Logicoma and you've got a fun blue-yellow-red trio on display. Sure, it's a bit small for the price, but as a niche collector's kit for Ghost in the Shell fans, it more than does its job. :-)
