Kotobukiya Super Robot War

Dygenguar : Metalic Color ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is a metallic color version of the non-scale Dygenguar — it's an overseas limited release with a similar feel to Bandai's Extra Finish versions. The coating quality is just a tiny step below Extra Finish, but overall it's still pretty nice.

In photos alone, it might not look all that different from the normal version — the camera just doesn't capture the difference that well. Part of that is because the normal version already has a fairly premium gloss injection-level finish, but even so, seeing the metallic plated version in person makes it look far more luxurious and impressive.

The non-scale Dygenguar is already one of the higher-quality Super Robot Wars kits out there, and the plated version's coating actually reduces joint play, giving it even better joint strength. That means you can hold up the large Zankantou and pull off all kinds of action poses. The tight, satisfying assembly feel typical of Kotobukiya kits is still there, and the finished result looks absolutely great.

What really seals the deal is that despite getting a full metallic coating, the price is set exactly the same as the normal version — truly generous of you, Kotobukiya! Either way, this is a very high-quality plated kit with an excellent value-for-money ratio. :-)
