Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Decals
Now that Char's and Johnny Ridden's Gelgoogs have come out, the Mass Production Gelgoog is here too. The typical dark and drab coloring of a mass production unit gives the Gelgoog a whole different feel. And crucially, some unique touches exclusive to the Mass Production type have been added.
First off, the rear skirt section got extra detail and verniers added, making it look even more impressive. Unlike the previous Gelgoogs that got flak for looking like a bird's head, the head is now more like a squashed steamed bun, bringing it closer to the original look. Also, going from that flashy pink-and-red color scheme to a calm, battle-ready(?) color palette actually feels like it cranks up the charisma! The rifle revised for the Mass Production type is bigger and better-looking than the one on Char's version.
Of course, everything on the body aside from the rear skirt, head, and rifle is carried straight over from the previous Gelgoogs. (For a more detailed structural review, see the MG Char's Gelgoog review) The articulation and joint issues are still there too.. This is a kit where you need good luck with the draw. The grip strength is still not great, so even though the rifle looks awesome, it's honestly pretty hard to get the hand to hold it properly.
Overall, I'd say this is the best of the Gelgoog series, at least in terms of what you get in the box. That impressive rear skirt definitely plays a big part! It's not a particularly special or groundbreaking Gelgoog variation, but it at least feels like it surpasses Char's version. Funny how the Mass Production type ends up with more verniers than Char's version, which is supposed to be three times faster.. ^^; Apparently Bandai went ahead and added the OVA-style skirt despite breaking the established specs, because the previous Gelgoogs had gotten so many complaints.. but hey, it's a great-looking rear end either way~ ^^
