Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Stickers
Just as many of us — myself included — expected, the 2005 PG ended up being just the Strike Rouge. It's basically the same deal as the old MG Aeug/Titans color variation releases. The one difference from those, though, is that the PG Sky Grasper + Aile pack — which had just come out as a PG option set — is bundled in here as well. I figured they'd just throw in the Aile pack, but nope, the whole Sky Grasper got tossed in too;; And sure enough, the price is just the two kits added together: 14,000 + 5,000 = ¥19,000, which feels pretty random.
That said, since the original PG Strike was such a fantastic kit to begin with, this PG Strike Rouge is naturally top-tier in terms of quality as well. The thing is, aside from the molded color changes, there's virtually nothing else different... so for a more in-depth structural review, PG Strike review and PG Sky Grasper + + Aile pack reviewplease refer to those.
For this kit's review, I think the most useful thing is to just go over what's different from the previous PG Strike.
1. Molded colors changed to pink/red tones.
2. Inner frame color changed to a slightly brighter gray.
3. Plated parts now use pink plating.
4. A Cagalli pilot figure is included as a separate addition.
5. The Sky Grasper's molded colors are overall darker.
6. Stickers updated / dry-transfer decal added to the chest.
That about covers it. ^^
One interesting thing — due to the molded color changes, some parts were moved to different runners. Parts needed for the Strike Rouge body ended up on the Aile pack and Sky Grasper runners rather than the Strike runners. (See the runner shots.) As a result, the Sky Grasper + Aile pack runners actually have different molds compared to the previously released standalone versions. I'm not entirely sure that was necessary... but I guess they really wanted to emphasize that this is all one single kit. :-)
The Rouge's molded colors are almost a perfect match to the MG Strike Rouge, and it looks even more beautiful and vibrant in person than in photos. Just like how the original PG Strike's outer armor combined white and light gray, the PG Strike Rouge uses two molded colors — pink and a very light pink. That very pale pink basically reads as white in photos, but in person you can definitely see the pink tint.
The dry-transfer decal added to the chest — which looks like something off a Chinese restaurant sign (;;) — can easily turn into a mess if you're not careful, so peel them off one by one, use tape to position them properly, and apply them slowly and carefully~
The PG Strike itself has nice stiff joints so there's rarely an issue, but once you attach the heavy Aile pack on the back, balancing it does get a bit tricky. This was already a problem with the previous Strike + Aile pack combo — you need to spread the legs slightly and find the right center of gravity to keep it from toppling. The ankles were never loose to begin with, but with the Aile pack on, they suddenly feel a bit precarious. If you get the balance wrong, it can just faceplant forward. Either way, there's a stand included, so that helps somewhat. ^^;
Sure, not much has changed — but it's such a high-quality kit with great molded colors that it's well worth recommending to anyone who doesn't already have the original PG Strike. The price and parts volume are both up there as a top-tier PG, so there are plenty of parts and it'll keep you busy for a good while. And the box art is genuinely "ART."
It's a little disappointing that 2005's PG offering was essentially filled with a molded color variation without much effort or any special new additions, but that just makes me all the more hopeful that something really impressive comes out next year. :-)
