Hello Kitty / MS-06S Char's Zaku II

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Hello Kitty / MS-06S Char's Zaku II released as part of the SD Cross Silhouette series. A while back we got a Hello Kitty collaboration in her original colors paired with the SD EX Standard RX-78 Gundam, and this time around she's teamed up with the SDCS Char's Zaku II.

The overall concept is the same as the SD EX Standard version — it's the SDCS Char's Zaku II with gloss injection applied, bundled together with a Char-colored Hello Kitty. The difference here is that instead of a Gundam helmet, a Zaku helmet part is included, and the mono-eye is represented with a large seal.

The SDCS Char's Zaku II uses the exact same parts as the original kit, so for this one I'll just note the slight change in molded color — for a detailed review, please check out the SDCS Char's Zaku II review for reference. Gloss injection has been applied to the molded surfaces, though it's not a dramatic difference — look closely and it's just a bit more glossy than before. The Hello Kitty figure is also the same aside from the molded color change, and the accessories are identical too, with the one addition being a Zaku face sticker on the apple.

When placing the Hello Kitty head onto the SDCS Char's Zaku II, you need to swap out the neck and shoulder parts to avoid interference with the helmet. Even after swapping them, the shoulder armor still gets in the way of the head a bit, which makes posing a little awkward. But then again, this kit wins on pure cuteness rather than posability, so it's all good. ^^

Anyway, this pink Hello Kitty Zaku seems like it'd be a big hit with the ladies — the licensing does make it a bit pricey for what you get, but the cuteness alone is well worth it. :-)
