Kotobukiya Arca Nadea

Xeno Alma Blaze Ophis

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Xeno Alma Blaze Ophis, released as part of Kotobukiya's Arcanadia series. It's a companion kit to the simultaneously released Xeno Alma Flame Stral, and just like the previously released Hydro Zephos & and Trickle Decapodia,it can combine with other kits. It can be used independently or combined with Flame Stral as Arcanadia Lumitea'sarmament.

The overall build quality is on par with Flame Stral, with a striking color combination and solid enough part retention. That said, there aren't as many articulated sections as you might expect, so posing options are somewhat limited with just the main body on its own. And because of its elongated dragon-with-wings shape, a stand with two clamp-style grips is included. On top of that, a number of joint parts for various combination configurations are also bundled in.

Disassembling the main body and attaching it to Lumitea is a fairly straightforward process, and it's a fun touch that the body splits apart to form two legs. The remaining parts can be assembled into a large bow-like shape for use as a weapon. You can also combine it with Flame Stral to recreate the four-legged Explode Volcarion. And just like the previous kits, you can attach both to Lumitea together to recreate the large-winged configuration.

All in all, the Xeno Alma Blaze Ophis stays true to the Xeno Alma series concept of offering all sorts of combination and crossover play. It's definitely a kit that's more fun when built alongside Flame Stral and Lumitea rather than on its own. :-)
